Replacement pads

I have XT M765 brakes and need new pads. Are the Shimano replacement pads the best or is there a differant brand that is better?

Or you could get a pair of Kool Stops. Work almost as good for a fraction of the cost.

Is the phrase "almost as good" something you really want to use when deciding on brake pads?

What are the benefits of resin pads over metal and visa versa?

Off topic but.....nice star WannaGetGood! When did you pick that up?
Well, in comparision, they still work very well. However, big name brand pads are going to cost around $100, when a pair of Kool Stops cost around $20.

About the star, someone made a donation to my account. TheForumGuy told me, that he has told to tell me that I should consider this my frist form of sponsership. I have no clue who would be nice to me around here.

The OP is in Minnesota.

If those Shimano pads are $100 in Canada, you should buy them for $15 a pair from the US and pay the duties. You would still come out ahead.

Since Koolstop disc brake pads are practically the same price as the Shimanos here in the US, I don't see how Shimano pads could be five times as expensive in Canada.

Back on topic-
Resin pads are great for warm weather riding - they don't work well in the cold, but grip better at moderate to high temps.
In the winter, the metal pads work better than resin (which freezes)

Brake pads just don't cost $100. Try between $15 to $28, depending upon the brand & quality.

don't worry about it, i guess i am just a bit jealous because i don't have a Sugar Daddy on Bikeforums like you and Pheard appear to have.
Actually the donating member is a great person that pretty much every member on bf respects. I think it is great when a member cares enough for the forum and respects another member enough to donate money.
