Suspension Fork Hierarchy
Hey guys. Noobish question coming from a rider who don't know **** about parts:
In my years of riding, i have yet to actually build my own ride. Keeping true to the mantra i use when building computers, i'd rather build a bike cause really, anyone can just buy a good bike...and its kind of one of those self-pride things.
anyways, i've been poking around the internet and asking my riding buddies, but i can't really get a definite answer as to what the hierarchy of suspension forks are. The only deal i've ever happened across is the Rock Shox Judy 2 fork for $80. I've ridden this fork before, and i love it! awesome fork for its price! but i'm trying to figure out what other low-cost forks there are to pick from when building a perfectly decent bicycle.
any suggestions, or explanations would be awesome!
thanks ~kwiba

welcome to the bike forums!
you pose a tough question. the Judy fork is a great entry level fork. in my opinion, your best bet is to look at any of the offerings from the major fork manufacturers and use their respective prices as an estimate of hierarchy. does that make sense? you somewhat get what you pay for as i am sure you know. however, all the companies have entry level options that will compare to the Judy fork.
sorry i cannot give you a better answer. maybe you can re-ask a more specific question
take care!

not to be offensive or anything, but Rock Shox Judy is the lowest end in the Rock Shox fork line. It has been discontinued and is now replaced by Rock Shox Dart I believe. Last year was a J-series.
Hmm, cheaper forks? try looking at RST or SR_Suntour, they might have cheaper fork.
