Which single speed hub?

I'm building up a 29'er singlespeed wheelset. And i'm trying to decide which hubs to use. they must be disc brake compatible, 32 or 36 holes. These are the three that i'm looking at. i like the idea of the cassette on the funn hub, instead of the freewheel setup on the other two. in my experience bmxing, the freewheels suck compared to a dedicated cassette. my price range is 150 tops for the rear hub. i'm trying to stay away from the converted 8/9 spd cassette unless someone can give me a good reason to. current frame is single speed only.

I don't kow much about the funn hubs, but it looks nice. Paul and Surly will both take years of abuse. If you go with a freewheel set up and want something with a little more quality White Ind. makes really sweet freewheels at a really sweet freewheel price. Other hubs to look at:

https://www.woodmancomponents.com/cat...ng=en&art=hub6

The Bontrager is in your price range and their stuff is pretty good quality, the Profile hub is out of your price range, but too sweet not to mention, and I'm not sure how much the Woodman costs, but it's another option.

What frame are you using? Post some pics when you get the bike together.

I wouldn't go with a rear bontrager hub. The bearings in them are really hit and miss. I would say go with either the Funn or the Paul.

transition bikes have a single speed hub. a little heavy perhaps but cheap and probably durable, considering. though, i have heard very good things about the paul.
