Yea I went to my local REI and checked them out. As far as I know, REI is the only company that carries them. They felt fine to me and the componets were good on the higher end ones. You thinking about getting one?

This is quite a generalization. Buy a Next... you're not paying for sh*t there.

I own an '05 REI Novara Bonanza...Great Bike!!! Well built,Good Componets, My only complaints were that the REI Store I bought mine from needed a better assembly person,(I do my own bike mech so this was just an annoyance) and it could stand a better Wheelset (I dont care for the Formula Hubs or the cheaper spokes)
other than those two things Its a solid bike for $600!! And You Cant Beat REI's Warranty Program!!!

Oh did I mention that I rode this From Boston to Wichita Ks??? Pulling a 85 Lb BoB Yak Trailer??? I Did and other than a couple of broken spokes this thing performed as I expected it would....PERFECTLY!!!!
