Yeah right, like E. Carter? Whatever. Nothin' wrong with the Goose. Their trail bikes (Teocali) got better reivews than some less desperate companies like say...Cannondale, Iron Horse, Jamis (my personal fav.). So it's not an SX Trail...who gives a crap?

I'm stoked to see what they give him to ride. Something new? Maybe just a B.D., who knows.

Their bikes aren't bad, but I don't know if I would trust one flying 50 feet above Ord Road.

Maybe they have a little something special up their sleeves, hehe. A new bomber perhaps?

I agree 100%. Mongoose wants to get back in the game...Steve could support that goal and make it happen.

I got a feeling steve and mongoose is going to work together and produce a whole new line of mongoose freeride bikes. If they do, you can be sure they'll be solid enough for ord road!

I love my two mongoose bikes, one from before they sold to pacific and the other after they sold to pacific and started to make a come back. They are awesome bikes for the money and strong as all get out.

Please someone tell me if they find a good mongoose, I'm not bagging them but I've honestly never seen an even slightly quality one.

Asked him today.

He felt he wasn't getting anywhere with Specialized, so he dropped them. He decided with Darren Berrecloth he would just leave it and start with a new company. He thinks he can really bring Mongoose out of the ****ter and into the limelight, kinda like what Sam hill did with Iron Horse.

Atleast thats what I got out of the quick two minute convo I got with him today.

It's nice to hear his point of view on it. Whatever works for him, I guess. Let's hope it all goes good for Steve, he's a super good rider and seems like a really nice guy too.

Psst, it's Iron Horse, not Iron Cross.

Nobody is saying they aren't quality, they're just saying they don't know if they would trust them. Parts aren't the only things that make a bike quality. Frame quality, ride quality, weld quality are some others.

Plus they're still owned by Pacific Cycles if I recall correctly.

they are quality. according to reviews, anyways. and not even mba reviews. i've personally never ridden one, but i know some that have and like it very much.

just because it's owned by pacific doesn't mean they are **** right off the start. the fact that they're pacific allows it to be cheaper, since they deal in such sheer volume. good quality bike for less money. sounds like a winner to me.

I doubt quality is an issue. Eric Carter played a role in the development of the two bikes above that bear his initials. I think it's a testament to Mongoose's commitment that they're actually building their own frames now - when Lopes and Donovan won their championships for Mongoose back in the day, they were on rebadged Intenses or Nicolais.

Mongoose has two brands more or less. Theres the original mongoose that makes good solid bikes for all kinds of riding, then theres the crappy Toys R' Us Mongoose that is done by pacific. My father is on the board of the venture capital firm (Windpoint Partners) that used to own pacific. Pacific more or less took those names and starts slapping them on crappy bikes, but that does not mean the companies dont make quality bikes.

I know that LBS mongoose bikes have good welds. I have a mongoose ht that is now 9 years old. I did urban freeride on the bike for about 2 years before my brother got his bike stolen and I gave it to him. The other bike I have is the black diamond triple fro 2006. It is an awesome bike with a strong, beefy frame and good components. I like the ride on the black diamond, the suspension is very nice all around and soaks up the bumps and drops with no problem. If I had the money I would probably buy another mongoose. I like the company and haven't had a problem with quality yet.

Carter rolled on a Turner Rail that was rebadged as a Mongoose. I saw some of the Mongoose DH pros last year at the Sugar mtn NORBA race. Looked like good stuff.
