Just picked up this exact bike. I'm not too sure about the rear shock either. After several rides, I'll post some reviews. Love the bike, so far...

The rear shock should hold up just fine.

I've got an '06 comp with the same shock. I am 220 pounds and I have had no problems. I just aired it up to recommended specs and rode it. My buddy tells me it isn't as good as his Fox, but we ride the same trails and he isn't the one that stops and waits for the other. :0

The valve lets you cut it off and the bob is minimal, which I like for all the climbs around here. When on, it is plush enough for rough, slow trails, and fast choppy downhills too. I don't know if rear shocks "bottom out" or not but mine never has, and I am a little heavier than everybody else I ride with.

I have confidence in mine, and it hasn't let me down yet, so my advise would be "don't sweat it".
