Back in Action (PUSH'ed)
Well, PUSH Industries doesn't mess around...I'm a believer.
While I was waiting on my swingarm from Jamis, I decided to order a 7" front rotor and get my fork PUSH'ed. I finally got it all back together today and my skepticism about PUSH Industries is eradicated. I have a square edge 2-3" bump near my house on my street that I use to guage my small bump performance. I have some rock ledges at a park up the street to guage "bigger hit" performance.
When I initially set up my Fox Vanilla 130-R a year ago or a bit longer, I would set it to where the 2-3" bump was pretty smooth and I could also do the rock ledges w/o bottoming out. No matter how I used to set it, I could still feel the small bumps...they were very smooth though. Now...I have better "big hit" performance than ever, but I CAN'T EVEN FEEL THE 2-3" bumps. I don't mean they're smooth...I downright just can't even freakin' feel it! I'm elated. I had to check my tire pressure to make sure that they weren't sucking up the bumps. The fork has a "bottomless" feel on medium and bigger hits, yet it feels like a cloud on the small stuff too. I just can't explain it.
In addition to the valving and dual lip seals that are claimed to be virtually impervious, they also machined me some new bushings to get rid of the classic "loose headset" feel that the Vanilla is known for. All in all, it feels super tight and super plush.
These guys do what they say. They take a mass produced product and make it feel like a custom tuned, top shelf race machine. I'm glad I did it.

Cool. I was tempted to send them my talas this winter but held off. To many other things to spend $ on.
I figure maybe next though. I haven't ever heard a negative word about them.

Cograts, Ed! That bike sure has come a long way just in the time I've known you. Do you have a list of stock components and the things you've upgraded? Or is there anything stock left?

Well, it was a frame-up build origionally for me.
It started as:
'05 XLT frame with a Fox Float R shock> Upgraded swingarm, hehe>upgraded to Fox Van R
Fox Vanilla R 130 fork> Pushed
WTB Team open ball cage headset> Upgraded to FSA Orbit Z Sealed cartridge headset
XT/Rhyno Lite wheelset> Hope Pro II/DT EX 5.1d's
LX Hollowtech II crankset> Saint> Hone 22/32/BG
LX rear der.> XT rear der
XT front der.
LX shifters
XT 12-34 cassette> SRAM PG 990 11-34
Easton EA50 stem
Easton EA 70 HiRise bars
Juicy 5 160mm brakes> 185mm G2 frt rotor
Raceface Evolve XC post> Thomson Elite layback
Bontrager Race Lux saddle> SanMarco Arami> WTB Rocket V Team Ti
Panaracer Fire XC Pro 2.1 tires> Kenda Stick-E 2.35" Nevegal's> Kenda 2.35" DTC Nev's.
Lizard Skins Logo Lock On grips
Shimano m505 pedals
I wouldn't mind going with a Thomson X4 90mm x 0' stem, some m540/XTR/959 pedals...umm...I can't think of anything else really. Maybe switch to a Next SL or EC70 OS bar one day, but with my tendancy to snug the shizzle outta stuff...I may want to steer clear of carbon with my lock-on grips. I do love the feel of the EA70 and it's cheap. I just talked myself out of it again, hehe.

Go there and see what you like. They charge around $159 for everything w/o new bushings. I paid $29.99 for new bushings, so all in all it was $200.10 shipped. It sounds rediculous to me when I think about it, but I only paid $219 for the fork as a New OEM closeout at JensonUSA. Either way, it's worth every penny. It's like a whole new fork. The Vanilla R is supposedly " the plushest 5" fork on the market", but now it's even 50% better or even more. They can also do a Vanilla R to RLC conversion which adds the low speed compression and lockout. I wouldn't use it all that much, so I'm happy with the R.
I know, I could have sold my Vanilla and put that $$$ + the $200.10 together and bought a 36 Talas R on eBay brand new for around $500 or a bit more. But then my bike would weigh an added pound and wouldn't be quite as plush. It'd be better for big hits though. I'm prob. gonna stick with the Vanilla as long as the frame holds up. Mainly because I can send it to PUSH once a year to have them rebuild it and make it feel this incredible.
PUSH doesn't work on 36 or 40's yet. Interestingly enough though...I talked to some lady there on the phone and she said that they were tooling up for some Rockshox 32mm forks. Exciting, eh? How 'bout a PUSH'ed PIKE? That'd be dang sweet!

Thanks for the report. I've also heard some good things but you never know how related the reports are to the supplier.
