Depends on what you're looking for. for small, common parts, the LBS is the way to go. It's good to support the local economy too. Or, if you're buying something at full retail price, might as well keep that money local. If you're shopping for closeout deals, higher ticket items, etc. on-line shopping isn't a bad way to go. Check out speedgoat.com. I've had good luck with them in the past. Their prices are great and they ship super quick.

It also depends on what kind of relationship you want/have with your LBS. Mine is very understanding about on-line sales, both when having purchased something or when looking for a break. It will generally meet, if able or come close to the price of the on-line merchants.

One benefit of the local LBS is, depending on the part, it will install it for nothing if you purchased the part there. Of course, YMMV.
