Bottom Bracket?

I noticed some play in my bottom bracket today and am wondering if it can be adjusted or is time for a new one?

Is some play ok?

Thanks Carl

Not as far as i know, but it might not be your bb; could be just a loose crankarm.

yeah make sure your crank arms are tight first. Those things get loose pretty often.

what type of crankset do you have?
Do you have an external bottom bracket?

You’ll have to forgive me for not knowing, I’m still fairly new to the sport and still have a lot to learn about bikes. I do knoe that it’s an ISIS and looks like it needs a special tool to remove.

I did check the crank arms and they seem to be tight.

Thanks,
Carl

No worries, No Mojo....
Here is a link with some great info on Bottom Brackets
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bottom_bracket

The age of the bb, the riding conditions it is exposed to, and the type of rider all play into the lifespan of a bb.
If your crankarms and chainrings are tight/torqued to spec...there's a good chance that the bb may be worn out. If you have the correct tools, it is not a tough fis. However, buying the tools along with a bb could be a costly venture. It all depends how far into the maintanance aspect you want to get....

Thanks for the help, I’m going to take my bike over to the LBS and have them look at it.
