What all extra have you done to your mountain bike?
Hey,
Youve probably seen a post on here about clipless pedals, but besides that, what else extra have you put on your mountain bike? I mainly do trail riding and Im just trying to find some extras that I myself might not even know about! Heres what Ive done so far:
Trek 6000 bike
Cateye wireless computer
About to get Shimano PD-M647 or PD-M520 clipless
Nike Kato III strap shoes I think ?
Maybe more comfortable bontrager seat?
Camelbak Mule
Trek Helmet and fingerless gloves...
Gonna pick up some Nike dri-fit shirts and still looking for a nice pair of riding shorts with pad

8 inch rotors for the brakes, for more stopping power, and, as some people say, to break your frame. 
Maybe a bigger fork some time... 80mm (or is it 100mm) isn't that much for some people.

depends on where and how you ride. Bigger rotors are nice if you have long steep decents, not really needed if you ride relatively flat areas or only have very short decents. Again, suspension depends on terrain and riding style. Just ride your bike alot and talk to people who ride the same trails as you and you'll start to get an idea of what is worthwhile to upgrade. Saddles are personal, if yours isn't comfortable, change it. Put some band-aids, a multi-tool, tire patches, mini-pump, and zip ties in your camelback. I also keep a $5, $10, and 5x $1 bills in mine (you never know).

6 pack premium beer. trail mix. 50" flat screen TV. surround sound system, inflatable doll (if my woman is not riding with me). gas grill, a whole juicy pig (for grilling), 8 cft cooler, and what not...
by the way, all of these are made with titenium and carbon (except from the doll and the pig) so they dont weight as much as they would if they were made of Aluminum.....but I am thinking of trying out a complete set in cromoly...you know steel is real...

The original build spec was mostly to my direction so not much needed to be changed. These are things I did after buying (haven't included stuff that was changed due to wear/breakage)
ODI Ruffian MX lock on grips
Old tube around the chainstay wrapped in Electrical tape (stuff Lizard Skins)
Hellbent Handle Bar
Maxxis Super Tacky Rubber
Shimano Road Derailleur
3M clear sheet to cover the top tube and underside of down tube, it is a .5mm thick hard clear sticky film, helps stop scratches etc.
The Obligatory Golden Bullet valve caps.

Considering that I bought mine as a frame I guess everything I did to it was "extra". Either that or nothing was extra and all was necessities. Either way, it is just how I want it.

Started with a stock Trek 4300 hardtail. I've replaced everything on it with parts like Raceface, Thomson, mavic, hope, Time, rockshox, Shimano XT and stuff. Now that it has all the good parts on it and my back has been bothering me I"ve purchased a KHS XC604 frame to transfer everything too. Building bikes is fun.

BC2210, you should get people to clarify over what period of time they made the upgrades. My Trek 6700 stayed unchanged, except for some OURY grips for six months. Then over the next few years, as I broke or wore out stuff I replaced it with better parts. Now it's my commuter bike and the only thing stock is the frame and seat clamp. Every thing else, incl the der hanger got upgraded (used the longer Gary Fisher one for bigger gear clearance).
For my current bike, I bought a frame and built it up with the parts I wanted/needed. If you wanted different stuff you should have bought a different bike. OR... Just ride your bike for now. You'll start to know what to replace and over the next few years it'll come together nicely.
