Congrats on the new bike, but in my opinion since you're buying your first Mtn. Bike, I would have gone to your LBS and test rode bikes and got your bike from there.

For 200 bucks thats a great way to get started. You might take to your LBS(local bike shop) for a tune up if you find you're having problems.

I went to a bike shop and test rode a few bikes, but the nearest bike shop is about 50 miles away. I live in a very rural area. I plan on taking it and having it tuned up there though when I get it. I still have my fingers crossed because I haven't even received the bike yet. I hope there is nothing major the matter with it.

Did some research for ya. I'd say your bike might be older than you think.

At least 7 years old. The '98 looks like yours.

Even if that's the case, as long as your bike is in good shape, I'd say you did fine.

One thing on fit. Trek's always ran short for me on top tube length. But then again, I've got more upper body than lower. Depending on your proportions, you may run into this also. The more agressive your riding style, the more you will notice it too.

have fun with your new ride

$200 and made in the USA. Those days are gone unfortunately. Nice bike, enjoy. I am 5 11 on a 19, so you should be fine. I'd rather have an 18.
