Glad you got it. It is basically the exact same thing as the old school Bullseye crank and b.b. Goes in and comes out the same way.

I'm thinking of getting a Shimano XT crank w/BB ES-71 & installing it myself. I've been told only a BB tool is needed. (are there any other tools required? no crank puller or BB lockring tool?)
What tools do you need to install the BB? There's a Park Tool BBT-2C (on JensonUSA, https://www.jensonusa.com/store/product.asp?number=41103) & Park Tool BBT-2 (PerformanceBike, https://www.performancebike.com/shop/Profile.cfm?SKU=706).
Is there a difference between the BBT-2C & BBT-2?

No, I just object to 4000000 billion small parts on something that ordinarily would be simple to install.
Just more **** to break in my opinion.

It's a 2 piece BB and a 2 piece crankset - I guess I'm missing the billions of small parts that will break.
Is it the spacers or the rubber o-rings that are confusing you?

And I guess the end of the spline is not regarded as a Spacer.
Or the taper deo'nt serve the same purpose.......
