Good sturdy pack for cell phones?
My wife wants me to carry my cell phone when I ride in case of an emergency (understandably so) but I have a pretty fragile blackberry. Can anyone recommend a sturdy pack that will be able to withstand falls?

An under seat bag is pretty well protected, I would think about wraping a towel around it for extra padding just in case.

half my rides don't let me get reception anyway, but when i have carried the phone, i just toss it into one of hte outer pockets. over 8 years of off and on with a phone in the pack, i've yet to kill a phone will riding/wrecking.

My wife and I carry our cell phones in a little pouch that velcroes to the shoulder straps of our camel backs. They are not padded, but never have broken a phone in a fall. It's easy to get to them if your laying on the ground with a serious injury. They are available from Performance bikes for about $3.00.

i have a generic padded cell phone case with a sturdy braided loop that holds a belt clip doodad. I don't use the belt clip as it flies off easily. i have a mountain climber clasp ($0.50 at any sports store, near keyrings) and clip it on to my belt loop, backpack, or if i'm riding lite i clip it around my brake/shifter cables right infront of the headset, it stays wedged between the cables and doesn't move, even during an endo i can also hear it ring, answer it, talk, and put it back without stopping (terrain permitting)

I second the hard case idea. It's easy to find one at bestbuy/circuitcity/etc. My girlfriend's blackberry came with a hard plastic slider that covers the screen, which would do nicely. I'm guessing something similar wouldn't be too hard to find.

I don't have a blackberry, just a plain ol cellphone. My phones have always ridden nicely in my seat pack or trunk bag depending on which i am using. There was the one time that i forgot to zip the seatpack and that cellphone was in many, little pieces when i later found it.
