I notice that with my rear derailleur...shifting from smaller cogs to larger cogs timing is quicker...like it takes only a split second to shift from 3 to 2, but it take a half second from 2 to 3...is it normal for the shifting to be a little slower when shifting to smaller cogs?

I don't know much about derailleurs, but I think there's two adjusting screws that center the derailleur around the chain, so maybe its just a little bit closer to one side, so it pushes them up to the big cogs faster than down to the little cogs.

This would best be asked in the mechanics forum. No it isn't normal. YOu probably have a cable that is too tight, and/or dirty. Or possibly a bent derailleur hanger. Go to www.parktool.com to learn about derailleur adjustment.

Try turning your adjuster barrel clockwise, a little bit at a time.

sounds like cable tention to me. do what parktool tells you to then spray some lube on the cable and it should shift perfect ( unless bent derailluer hanger as portis said)

Half a second is the slowest shift? Whats the problem?? Cables are prolly a little stretched though and need some adjustments

its not a real "problem" its just something i noticed and wanted to ask about it...ive only had a week but im pretty sure it came from my bike shop doing this...and i do think the derailleur hanger is bent in by 1mm...so thats probably what the problem is

As already stated, it could be adjustment or need to replace the cable/housing. The best way to tweek shifting is at the shifter pod while riding. Things are always different in the real world.
