Bent Seat Post

Fellas..

I just bought a new bike recently, about 1 month ago or so (2007 KHS Alite 3000).

I just noticed that my seat post (27.2mm Alloy micro-adjust) is visbly bent, starting to banana.

Now, I'm a pretty big guy.. 240-250 lbs. But I haven't done anything drastic on this thing (yet), no jumps or drops, just pretty typical trail riding.

Does anyone feel that something like this should/would be covered by warantee? I'm waiting on a Thudbuster to arrive in the mail anyday now, so loosing the post shouldn't be much of an issue.. but jeeze. I rode my Kona for years without seeing this sort of damage. It's embarrassing a little, I should be at about 220-230 lbs, a little soft at the moment, but I sort of expected the bike to be able to withstand my weight for at least a year or so.

I'm 6'4", it's a 21" frame, so the post isn't all that high... shorter than how I rode on my 20" Kona Nunu.

Check with website of the company that manufactures the seatpost. Most companies have some sort of warrantee policy.

I wouldn't like I-9's. I would put them on my bike and stare at them. I would get out on the trail and look down at the hub as I ride and stare at them some more. Then I'd hit a tree. I'd fall down and instead of birdies floating 'round my head...I'd see I-9 hubs. I'd be stuck in a hospital bed with a severe concussion not able to ride, so I'd have someone take my I-9 hub'd wheelset off and brin them into the hospital. I'd insist that they stay in my hospital bed. I'd roll over on them and puncture a lung on the skewer. I'd die just because I had I-9's.

Okay...actually they're Hope Pro II's. I couldn't afford I-9's, but I LOVE the Pro II's. They're so CLACK-CLACK-CLACK loud and freakin' fun!
