Greensboro, North Carolina MTB trails

Hello

I live in the Greensboro area in North Carolina. I love to mountain bike on just about any trail in the area but would like to know the best or one I havent hit yet. I have done all the lake townsend watershed trails. They were fun, but no jumps or major challenges. Do any of you know of a good trail for me. I like singletracks alot. Also, my younger brother like to MTB and he wants to know a good beginner trail in the area where their might be some jumps. Thank you.

Reedy Fork trail (the only Townsend trail open to bikes) is not very good. Try Bald Eagle trail on Lake Higgins for a mostly smooth out and back, Owls Roost and the rest of the Lake Brandt trails for a techier singletrack loop, and Country Park, which has a singletrack loop and a jump park, both suitable for beginners. Lots of pics on here if you do a search.

Do you have a car? If you can transport your bike, try Harris Lake southeast of Raleigh. They have beginner, intermediate and advanced trails. The advanced trails have go-arounds for all the difficult obsticles.
Harris Lake is not the hardest trail around, but a number of riders, including me, have said its the "funnest". If you need directions, let me know, I live about 15 minutes from the trailhead.

Bald Eagle trial is the first single track I ever road and I freaking loved it. I hated that i was still a smoker at the time. It was also the first time I rode with gastro. (oh the memories) Itís a great trail for beginners. Check out this site, the maps could be useful.

Sure. I just got home from a ride and I'm really beat. I'll find a mapquest address near the park and send it to you along with some general directions.

Harris Lake park can be located on mapquest at
2112 County Park Drive
New Hill, NC 27562

OR

From Greensboro take I-40 east to US 1 South. On US 1, take Exit 89, "New Hill, Jordan Lake", Turn Left, after traveling 3 to 4 miles, the park will be on the right. The entrance has a blue sign.
If it rains the night before, you should check to be sure the MTB trails are open before taking that ride. The number is 919-387-4342.
You can find information about the park on www.wakegov.com then go to parks, recreation, then Harris Lake.
If your going to try the advanced trail, it might help to stop at the Ranger station or the rest station (near the trailhead parking lot) and pick up a trail map. The trail is NOT well marked. Let me know if you need anything else.
