Trying to decide.
 

I have $1200 in my bank. But i don't want to spend like even half of it. Maybe like $400 - $500 of my bank money. I have been riding my 2006 Specialized Hardrock for almost 1 year and 7 months. I ride it at least 1-2 hours a day and like 14-15 hours a week. So it's pretty beat up. Just scratches. Need's a bit of work, it's a great bike though. I am wanting to sell that for like $200 probably and then i will have around $600 - $700. I am trying to decide what bike to get. I want a Dirt Jumping bike like the Specialized P1's or maybe a haro thread. My friend just got a Haro Thread 1, it's a single speed. I also want it to be a Singlespeed. All my local bike shops sell Marine, Kona, Haro, Specialized, Giant and Trek. So i can get probably any bike from those brands because they can order them. I want something small i am 5 feet a weigh 83 pounds. Thanks for trying to help me if you can!

I know I've seen a few SS Dirt Jumpers in the past, I just can't recall what websites they were on.

Actually, I did find the Specialized P1, but it's MSRP is $770, but it probably sells for like under $700. That's really the only one I could find.

Thanks. I'm looking for a newer bike though. I really just want to go into the shop and buy it. I want the feel again of a new bike lol.

a kona stuff jr, or a kona shred should do you if you can pick up a later years model or if you look to a new shred it should be your size but you will have to spend around $850

Upgrade the Hardrock....

upgrading the hardrock with a new fork and shifters sounds like the best bet. If you are just tired of it.. hmm there are konas. The Giant Rainier is a very good value. For $670 it has a Marzocchi MZ Race 100mm(4in) Travel w/lockout. It also has bb5s and all deore shifters. The frame will last you a lifetime at your size. I'm a fan of the aluxx sl frame on the yukon and rainier.

For all that stuff with the holy rollers it's $371. And with the K-Rad's its like $360. Thanks for all the help...

Your going to make it a single speed? why don't you just make it a single in the front? I like the K-Rads for jumps.

Well i would, as i usually due, recommend financing with a downpayment, but since you're only 5' 83 lbs, i'm guessing that you're under 18 and hence can't have a credit card....in which case it might not hurt to pitch the idea to your parents.

anyways, that way you could afford to economically expand your budget without depleting your bank account.

otherwise, i'd go with what freeridin' said and upgrade the hardrock. if the frames in good condition, you might as well, especially since you're already used to and comfortable on it.

I'm not sure though. Because the bike i want is $700 and has like all the stuff i want, Then i have a complety new bike with all the same parts i want and nicer other parts. And i could sell my hardrock for like $200 so i would pay like $500 for the bike and i would be paying for all the parts for like $400. So i'm not sure...

Yea but imagine what that $700 could do on your existing bike. MX4 brakes arn't that good either.

Spend that money on a good fork with lockout and bb7s, you should still have money to get new tires and make it a single if you wish.

The Haro Thread 1 in 12 inch size is $639.99. I think i want to buy that. It seems like a better deal and if i sell my Hardrock i only have to pay like $400.

Yea. I'm going to sell my Specialized Hardrock Sport 2006 for $200, off of craigslist probably. Then i'm going to buy the Haro Thread 1. I rather just get a new bike then upgrade it, I really like the feel of the Thread 1. tell me your opinions on the thread 1?
