Almost died this morning.

Was out at a local park doing some riding and there is a nice big scenic overlook with a cliff overlooking the water in this area. Ive been there many times before and know the place like the back of my hand. Anyways i climbed over the railing for the overlook and went and sat down on a rock ledge about 4 feet wide hanging over the edge (about 300 feet). anyways i sat there for about 15 minutes and decided i had other **** to do so i started to go back up to the top, about 15 feet from the railing of the overlook. the first rock i climb up i step on it and look down for footing and there is a copperhead sitting on the rock. scared the ****ing **** out of me. i jump backward real quick and the snake bolts off. Not remembering there is a 300 foot drop behind me i land about 3 inches from falling to my death.

sometimes you gotta learn the hard way.

Holy!

I can relate.

There was a big branch that they used as a guardrail, that had fallen down, at a mountain x-country trail near here.
So it just looked like another obstacle on the ground. I jumped over it with the bike, and needed quick reflexes to put the brakes on fast, because it was an approx 200 foot drop!

That's definitely one of those times where you get a shiver up your spine!

I could have died the other day too, or just really got hurt...I saw a single track trail Ive never taken before on the local mountain...So i took it...and quickly learne that it was a mistake...it turns out its like a steep rock garden incline all the way down the damn mountain, and before you think "cool", NO ITS NOT COOL...just trust me, these rocks belong on NO trail...it was like a bunch of chairs just piled on the trail...it would zoom you at high speed for about 50 yards then level out for about 10...every time I leveled it out I thought "wow that was close"...then like a roller coaster it was right back down again...The whole time I was going down, I could see this going bad in my head, flying over the handlebars at 25 mph, I never did though...the trail was so rough that I have to go get my front wheel trued.

You expierenced people may have loved it...but it scared the **** out of me.
