Plastic cable ferrules?

As I rebuild my MTB, I pulled one of the old der cable housings off, and it has these incredibily cheap looking black plastic ferrules on the ends. It just looks cheap. Why would they use these when a brass ferulle is much nicer and won't compress over time? Do they really save that much money by being this cheap?

I guess I'm just a bit disgruntled today.

I have seen them before......but I have no idea where.

I'll do a little searching.

Edit: Hmmm.... bummer. I can't find any, maybe I was tripping.

Get a silver cable ferrule and a Sharpie marker, it will be just as cool.
