New Shimano Crank Set, some quick questions...
I have an older HotRock Specialized bike and I just put on a Shimano crankset. After about an hour of tweaking I am now able to get all gears to work correctly without skipping etc. However, on my three front gears of my bike my twist handle shifter to decide which gear to switch between, I actually have about 6 or 7 clicks instead of just 3 solid shifter handle shifts. Any idea why this is happening? It seemed pretty much after about 4 months of riding it has always done this.
So on my handlebars I have a marker for 1 2 3
However, the actual clicking sounds it makes are at 1 1.2 1.5 2 2.2 2.5 3 and 3.1.
Granted all the other clicks dont make the gears actually change physically on the bike, I can just hear the clicking sound like it should be doing something.
Any ideas?
I have a 21 speed. I went with a Shimano 460 Crankset.

Also, the smallest cog towards the frame, the inside of the cog rubs against the frame some and is eating away the paint. Do they make small spacers or shims so the cog doesnt ruin the paint? I need maybe an 1/8" of clearance.
