Kona Lava Dome?

I got a road bike a few months ago and am having a blast with it, but I want to upgrade my old Trek 6500ZX and wsa thinking that the Lava Dome looks like a good bike for general XC and to use around town. I also like the idea of steel. Anyway I have around $700 give or take a few bucks and if anyone has any opinions on this bike or others in this range I would like to hear them. Also I am 6'2 and 180lbs so a few lbs on the bike doesn't really bother me much.

Thanks
Matt

Why do you want a steel frame?

I really like the Lava Dome for that price range and for your intended use. Another suggestion would be the Jamis Exile. Good luck.

Just for a change. Plus it will be a bit of a beater bike as well since I will be towing the baby trailer at times and such and I figured steel might be more comfortable since I will probably ride it to work some as well. My Trek needs some money dumped into it the fork is making noises and needs new chain tires cables and the BB is making noises now. So I figured it would not cost much more to get a new bike. Any other ideas are welcome I figure I am going to hit the shops this week end.

Thanks
Matt

Actually just looked at the Kona web site andnoticed they will not have any steel xc hardtails next year. Maybe I will luck out and find a 2003 still in stock locally.
