Old School

I haven't ridden here in 10+ years so I dragged the family out today for a short out and back.

The views back East weren't bad either. Bonus points for whoever can name the two mountains in this one.

You spoiled w.a_nkers have absolutely no idea how fortunate you are to be able to ride in places like that.

I envy.

Ouch, that had to be rough. Growing up as an Iowan I always felt sorry for those poor folks on the east side of the ol Mississippi that didn't have the amazing amount of recreational natural resources we did.

You've never been to the Pisgah National Forest, have you Brian? It's East of the Mississippi and is not too shabby.

Back on track, I definitely appreciate the goods wherever they may be.

What exactly does Iowa have to offer that the east coast doesn't? The east has an amazing mountain range, forests, rivers, lakes, beaches, and an incredible network of trails, plus.. culture.

Damn, I thought we were going to get a good "east coast/west coast" debate like the rap world a number of years back.

East coast... hollah!

Rap started on the east coast. Mountain biking on the west.

Now that is "old school".

Stay with me on this 66...you know the drill. Pisgah and Dupont really suck. There are no good trails. Everything is flat and ugly.

Reminded me of the story of the farmer whose property straddled the Vermont/NH border. Government survey crew came through and informed him that, actually, his farm was completely inside the NH border after all. To that, the farmer replied, "Whew, what a relief, I'm not sure I could have stood another one of those cold Vermont winters."

Ha, look what I've done! Anyone who took that post seriously hasn't spent much time in my native state, luckily for them. Not exactly the place to be if your choice of outdoor activities don't revolve around hunting seasons.

Nice pics by the way Pete, looks like a good ride. One of these days I'll make it out thataway to do some riding.

Not enough cornfields there to ever make the trip worthwhile and I get all flustered when there isn't a silo or barn in sight. Besides, there was some dinky little town in Colorado the same distance away where all these freaks were building singletrack that took up all my flatland escape time instead.

It's on! Now if I can just find my trusty pitchfork. If the Mississippi coast is on my east but Iowa is west of Illinois does that make me an eastsider or westsider? Just want to make sure I get this straight before I start working on my new gangsta country album.

Hah! i like that story. However it doesn't make that much sense. and its not because the border of NH and VT is a river, making border disputes a relatively moot point, either.

The only reason a Govt official would visit any of us here in NH is because we don't pay our taxes. (lucky for us any granite state'r worth their weight has enough food and ammo to hold off the US Marshalls for months)

I'm starting to lose my sense for detecting sarcasm, because I see so many obsurd posts on here that aren't sarcasm.. sorry.
