superlight or blur?
Has anyone had experience with both of these bikes? I have ridden the Blur and it was badass, but i'd like to know if there is a big difference between these bikes. I'm not a racer so I don't care if there is a little suspension bob with the Superlight. I would just like to know if the Blur is worth the 300 extra dollars.
If there was any significant bob with the superlight, the new 5th element shock should fix that right? I only weigh 170lbs so i'm not a heavywight and I would like to have the lightest bike possible. Don't ask me why, its mainly psychological, I think. I have been looking at full suspension frames for about six months now and I would like to stay around 700-1300 and about 3.5"-4.5" of travel, but the less money i spend on a frame, the more I can spend on a nicer fork. any help is appreciated Edit: I've already tried reading the reviews on mtbr.com, but I don't trust reviews that are made by people who just spent $3000 on what they are reviewing. |
I've only ridden the Blur also, so I cannot comment on the superlight. However, from what I've read, beyond the potential for less bobbing, the blur should hook up the rear wheel better while climbing. Also, per the Santa Cruz web-site, there is only 4/10ths of a pound difference between the bikes.
I'd burn the extra 3 bills and get the blur. |
No competition, get the V-10

i've ridden both quite abit and i must say you can't go wrong with either. i feel the SL is quicker pushing out of turns and feels slightly more nimble. the blur is much more plush and really handles the technical stuff better. i would catagorize the SL as a XC/Racer and the Blur as a trail bike/all purpose, no to say you couldn't use one for the other. OH YEA NO COMPETITION GET THE V10
ps i bought the blur |
I want a Blur.

I think i'm goin with the superlight so can buy a better fork.
I'd rather have a superlight with a 5thelement in the rear and a float 100rlc in the front, than a blur with fox ava in the back and a black 100/125 in the front. |
What you realy need to do is spend $4000.00 and get your self a custom made Canfield frame with 15" of travel.:p :D
Seriously, both are great bikes and as Rockstar stated, the Superlight is a xc/race frame where as the Blur is more of a trail bike. If there was any significant bob with the superlight, the new 5th element shock should fix that right? If you will be jumping and doing drops of say 3' or more then I suggest the Blur. Go for the Superlight if you want a racer. |
i chose the superlight because there are almost no technical trails within an hour of me, so I think a blur would be a waste of a bike.
