columbia river gorge pics

Just got a new digital camera, Canon A70, and was playing around with it a little bit this weekend on my trip up to ride the gorge. Only got pics of the drive up, and really only took video on the trail. Will post the videos when I can figure out how. Anyone know how?

Anyways, these first few are typical scenes on the drive up the gorge:

I like the blue sky, not a cloud in sight. Those moontens look mighty nice to ride on. The photo of the logs almost suggest "come take me!".

Hey I just bought an A70 too, nice camera

I love the Gorge. Been down that way a few times since I've been here, never biked down there though. Any recommendations for trails down that way, maybe near Hood River ? That's a pretty cool little town

there are a ton of cool trails near the Gorge/Mt Hood/ Hood River...

Mission Trail: starts a mile or so SE of Hood River and heads up...
Seven Streams: starts just outside HR and goes south into the mountains
Surveyer's Ridge: about half way between Hood River and Mt Hood - this is a ridge that runs North/South a little to the NE of Mt Hood
Dog River: runs from the valley up to Surveyor's Ridge - great singletrail UPHILL and dowhill with lots of vertical. most guys ride as car shuttle, but i recommend the climb too

or see the paperback "Hood River Single Trail Anthology" - published in like 1996 or so

*Note: i haven't ridden any of these trails since summer 2000, so ya know, things change...

Ooooo, beautiful photos!

Regarding posting the movies: if you have a broadband Internet-service provider such as Comcast, they probably give you a certain amount of online storage space where you can upload a file and then others can look at it. Who's your ISP?

Those are SCOTT USA Cowhorn or Bullhorn bars. Really popular back in the early to mid 90's.

Oh Gonesh!!! Don't do this to me. I'm still waiting for my Canon A60 in the mail. It missed my friends wedding and the 100th anniversary of aviation airshow at Mccord AFB.

Nice pics though.

Yeah, it's my friend's old bike... took a while to get used to those bars, but ended up really liking them for the uphill. Got them snagged on a lot of bushes going downhill, though. Can't wait till I get my rig back!

I think it was called Buck loop or something, right outside of White Salmon.

I have not heard of that one before. I always go to the Syncline trails in the White Salmon/ Bingen area.
