San Diego crash. Kudos to the stranger who helped.
I was riding through Rancho Penasquitos (sp?) nature reserve yesterday and hear some sirens going through a local neighborhood. Didn't think much of it until I saw a man standing in the middle of a field and a San Diego police helicopter overhead. Rode up to the guy in the field and said he saw a guy on the trail bleeding and called 911. We stood out in the field waiting on the ambulance while he went back to the injured biker.
Turned out a guy was riding by himself and got a little out of his ability. The guy crashed and stuffed a large stick right into his chest. He pulled it out and crawled into the shade. The stranger stopped and helped him to sit up to keep the blood flow down. When I got there, his entire shirt was soaked in blood. Offered items from the first aid kid but he didn't want anything touched. The ambulance arrived shortly. Luckily the park has plenty of doubletrack roads through it. Hopefully the rider is OK.
Thank you stranger. Don't know who you are, but if anyone sees an older gentlemen with an Australian accent out riding with a german shepard, give him a nod.
