Well, on this past ride, I noticed a severe drop in the performance of my front disc. I determined the cause to be a mysterious oil that had somehow found its way all over the bottom of the caliper and rotor. I promptly went home, and cleaned off the rotor/caliper/everything else the oil touched. Then, I spotted the culprit:

In the next pic you'll notice that the crack has changed the angle of the bolt & washers so that it's almost rubbing the rotor.

The good news is I have a back up fork downstairs that's brand new. The bad news is that it's a Manipoo Axel Elite.

If I can find the receit I'll warentee it, but I probably lost it. As a temporary solution I put the V brakes back on, and I'll refill the oil at a later date.

BTW the fork is a Tora 318 Air.

How did you pull that one off?

I guess another option would be to order brand new lowers, and right now it looks like the cheapest solution that allows me to keep the fork and the disc brake.

I'm going to chalk it up to a manufacturer defect that got past QC. I only weigh 150 lbs and I don't ride all that hard. I have every reason to believe that the next set of lowers will last longer.
