handlebars turning to the left.
Hey guys I dont know if this is a normal thing or not. I clipped a tree with my left handlebar grip...wasnt going fast...probably about 7 or 8mph and I dismounted the second before impact so it wasnt like a big thing...but afterwards after the ride I was inspecting my bike for damage...when I pick the front end up sometimes it slowly turns to the left by itself. I got a light attachment, poplock remote, and avid bb5 disc brake all on that same side...so that could be the reason...I dont know. Is that a normal thing?

can you validify it was "turning" left before your impact?
|
Um... well.... If you have ever picked up a bike befor you will notice that the bar will turn to the left or right. It will never stay centered unles it is at a negative angle, on a stand for instance.
The headset is like a fulcrum on a teter toter. When it is unbalenced it will fall or turn. |
i picked it up once before the accident adn it didnt turn...but then again...it doenst turn every time when I pick it up now...so like leo said, the tetor totor thing makes sense...thanks guys

You need to take it back to your LBS and have them do an alignment. After a wreck or hitting a large bump, the front end can be knocked out of line. An alignment should fix the problem.

I've heard of "validate". And "solidify". But never "validify".

is an "alignment" a quick and simple procedure? basically one they could do while I wait?

I would check to see if the stem is still aligned with the wheel. Often times they will get knocked crooked during crashes. If it doesn't line up with the wheel, loosen the stem and pull it back in place. Make sure you tighten the stem afterwards  |

Just yanking your chain again.:D You are on the east side of the Mississippi......magnetic gravitational pull causes this. Don't you know anything about Geography and how compasses know where true North is. |
