Bontrager: Privateer Comp?
 

Hi. I have a co worker who wants to sell an older mountain bike. I don't know much about moutain bike stuff. It has Shimano XT components, steel frame and front shock. It is in good shape and he is asking $170. I am not looking for something with a full suspension etc so I think this might work. I also know Keith Bontrager from trek stuff. Would this be worth the money provided it fits and everything is working?

No I don't. He says it is silver with yellow decals and a yellow front shock/fork. I hope that helps.

Bontrager frames are pretty much classic steel frames, BUT if you ever have to replace the fork you'll have to find a 1" steerer. That aside, if the frame is in good shape, I'd buy it.

what size is it, please post pictures if you can, and will he accept paypal?

whether you buy it or not, post pics! pre-Trek Bontrager Privateers are classics, and for $170 you'd be getting a steal....

Fantastic bikes!! I wish he was still making frames. I had one and loved it; got stolen. $170 is a great price.
