Rate YOUR rear shock

On a scale 1 to 10, rate the performance of your rear shock. How does it perform in terms of overall use, pedal bob, big hits, etc.?

mtnbiker66 08-21-07 07:26 PM

I give mine an 8.

santiago 08-21-07 07:32 PM

Mine is an 8. If it gave out happy endings, I'd probably give it a 9. Maybe.

Cyclist30907654 08-21-07 07:33 PM

i think you guys should say what kind of shock you have, and the OP should state whether 1 is good, or 10 is good

That info was not asked for. I gave mine an 8 rated on a voztec curve scale.

My shock is a 1.

Probably not very much.

I ALSO asked "How does it perform in terms of overall use, pedal bob, big hits, etc.?", but what I'll end up with just a bunch of random numbers from 1 to 10, a few -'s, and some in the 100's. None of the posts will actually mention the brand name.

The final result will be me ordering the RP23 from Cambria or ebay and thinking about about how I was probably going to get that one from the beginning anyways.

By the way, I rate my rear shock a 5. I haven't used it yet, but it looks OK on my latest built bike.

mtnbiker66 08-21-07 07:44 PM

Mine works fairly good in the pedal bob and big hit areas. It's still an 8.

Dannihilator 08-21-07 07:53 PM

Can't tell you yet.

Did I miss something? What are you building?

Just get the RP23 and be done with it. A Push tune is nice too.

Just built up an '06 Kona Kikapu frame with the parts from my other bike. The OEM rear is a coiled Vanilla with no rebound adjustment. I am going to pull off the Vanilla and sell it. I have the feeling I won't be happy with it if it can't be dialed in.

Maelstrom 08-21-07 08:25 PM

Mine gives good bob...thank you.

ghettocruiser 08-21-07 10:01 PM

Four.

I'm quite happy with it.

MattP. 08-21-07 10:12 PM

What is it in your life that makes you so disturbed as to rate your shock with avocado's number? They have medicine for that.

The Santa Cruz website is selling off Swinger 3-Way Air shocks that fit the Kikapu for $99 (you just have to get the proper bushing kit from your LBS ~$20). I have the Swinger on one bike and I prefer it over the RP3 on one of the other bikes.
