Trying to upgrade...

Hello, i've been riding a Specialized Hardrock Uno for about 3 months now. I bought the bike used for $350 and everything is stock. The gears slip alittle and are shifting kinda funny. I'm trying to upgrade some of the componets but dont have a clue what size or brand i should be investing in. Any Idea's...

How do you know?

Can't you answer a simple question, Pete?

With all your experience, seems like you could answer the question, instead of trying to look like a big shot.

How 'bout it, Pete? Want to help someone?

Hey stalker, it's impossible to answer the question without more details, hence my question to the Zumba user type. But you wouldn't know that because you lack the necessary experience.

Other than stalking me, why are you even posting here, since you are so afraid of riding a bike that you needed to read a book before you could ride in traffic like a normal person? And that was on the street, not even off road where it's even more scary!

I don't know, road can be pretty unnerving at times, but then anything can be.

Then try helping for once, bigshot. Ask for details.

Duh.

Stalker, you're implying that I haven't helped before.

That is just another lie.

The search feature is your friend lazybones.

zzzzzz....

he's just clarifying that a derailleur slip could be due to different reasons other than poor adjustment, no reason to be upset.

I'm trying to figure out the specs on my bike so i get the right size cassette. Also i bent the rear derailer when i fell into a tree. I brought it to a local bike shop and he said it would be fine if i bent it back, but it still doesn't shift right... should i just invest in a new one?

If you bent the derailluer/derailluer hanger, and then bend it back. you will most likely need to re-index the shifting. The derailluer is probably not in the same position it was before the tree encounter.
