You're right. He should have started about 6 useless poles and then talked all about what he might do and what he might buy. Did he?????? Noooooooooooo!!!!! He just went out and got new parts, did it all by himself. Go figure.

In most cases, I think it's a case of stupidity.

MAM: duh, yeah, XT cranks. But the new XT cranks, that haven't been out for long. I think most of us are more excited about someone posting a new part on a bike they actually have vs. endless threads about what parts to buy for a frame and fork they don't have yet...

Nice! You mind giving a ride report once you get a few rides on them?

I can give one right now.

Install was extremely easy, had the old cranks off and the xt's on very quickly all of 6 minutes time(Mostly removing the race face cranks, and moving the chain ring and bash ring to the xt cranks. The thing that kind of caught me by surprise was that the chainring bolts were not hex, they were torx(Uses a t-30 torx.)
With installing the cranks I didn't hav to modify the cranks to have clearance with the chain guide, had to modify the race faces I had on there.

With the ride, first thing I noticed was that they were indeed lighter than what I had, made the bike alot more snappy when pedalling and alot stiffer.
