What would be a real good price for a used 2005 stinky? What is this bike best used for?

Price depends on the state of the bike and what components/fork are on it. For a two year old stinky in good condition I would say around 7 or 8 hundred is probably fair. Maybe a bit more if the fork/components are higher end.
I think stinkys are meant to be all-mountain/freeride bikes. They have a decent amount of travel and should do fine for downhill applications but may be a bit heavy if you are planning on doing a lot of climbing.

In Canada, a 2 year old Stinky would go for about half the price of a new one...so a used 2005 will be much less

these bikes are used for downhill, so inspect any used ones carefully...cracked or bent frames and components are common...the fork and shock may be past their usefull life

...but if it was rarely used and well maintained, it may be OK
