Bmx cranks on mtb

I know that you can get profile cranks to fit on mtb's. Are the bb's the same for both bmx and mtbs ( i know that there are different sizes for mtbs, 68mm and 73mm, is the same true for bmx?) But other than that is it possible to get a bmx crank to fit on an mtb?

As far as mounting Profile type BMX cranks, you'll need the euro BB and the correct size internal spacer to fit different width BB shells.

Installation guides are here:http://www.profileracing.com/downloads_home.php

FSA makes English cup BMX BBs, as does Gusset (Pygmy). 68 and 73 widths are plentiful; usually the MTB-cup ones come with enough spacers to do either BB shell. 83 is the problematic width - - less available because you need such a long spindle.

Profile makes a 6.875" spindle for 83mm BB shells. The cups are the same. Add more spacers.
