Chain Broke then it mangled my derailer!!

Ok welp.. I was riding up a little incline and my chain snapped then it managed to smash my derailer and bend it all over the place...

Bike is at LBS and its only 6 months old.. I wonder if this will be covered?

same thing happened to my friends bike (1 month old). Chain snapped, Xt rear bent. He brought it back to his lbs and they fixed it with no charge. Only had to pay for a new chain. Looks like you can fix that chain.

My derailer is more then bent, look at the pic its wrapped around the wrong way :D

Just a update.. They Are fixing it for free...woot!

Congrats. My guess is since it was new, they're gonna eat the cost themselves just to keep you happy. I suggest taking them a couple of soda's (or beer) upon picking up your bike! The shop hooked you up. They could've easily said, "Sorry, not a warranty issue!". Plus, if you DO take them some type of Tip (drinks, pizza, cookies...etc.) they're more likely to remember you and help you out again.

Hey Chi, little story as to why I do this:

My good friend (a car mechanic) refered me to another buddy of his to work on my wife's car. This was a third car we were going to sell, so I was in no hurry to get the work done. No problem, they used it as "fill in" work when they slowed down. After my car being there for almost 3 months, I found a great deal on a new truck and decided to trade her car in. They quickly looked at her car, determined there was a small problem in the vaccuum line and it would cost $150-200 to fix. I explained I was going to trade it in, they suggested NOT to do the work and just trade the car in. Great, what do I owe you? Nothing! What? You guys spent a couple hours just figuring out the problem, plus it sat in your shop forever. Nah, you're a friend of a friend. Ummm, o.k.

That Fri., I ordered about 4 pizza's and some cokes and had them delivered to the shop.

After I got my truck (used) I decided I better get a brake job. I called to schedule an appointment, gave the guy my name and asked if he remembered me. He said, "Of course, you're the guy that sent all those pizzas. When do you want to come in?".

It's called courtesey. It happens so infrequently, that when it's done, people really remember you for it!

I wish everyone would act this way!

I totaly agree with A2p, when you work in a service industry you get abused all the time by customers, owners, salesman. Some days it is pure hell depending where you work. I work in computer service dept for quite a few years, I would say half dozen times we had customers bring us lunch etc. it makes you feel like they appreciate what you do for them. ANd you remember them.

Very true.. I'll throw em something... Pizza or whatever.
