I think..

..My season could be over today I think once this snowstorm is done it's just gonna be too deep. I already put the bike downstairs in preparation to take it all apart.

I gathered the parts last year but did not start it yet. I have a foot-long piece of 6061 4" square tubing that I'm going to cut sections from for the ski stands. Then I'll either use just solid axles, skate board trucks or a couple old hubs with one side flattened with the band saw and u-bolted to the stands. Friend at work gave me a pair of kids' skis and I have an old URT frame with a Fox Alps and a dual-crown Judy ready to reassemble.

I understand Snoqualmie and Baker allow them - - gotta find out if any of our E. WA/N ID slopes do. Plus I have my own ridge for test-runs

I did something like that last year but used a solid round piece of stock which I machined out to the diameter of the axle(long bolt) I was using. I then welded that piece to the square tubing and ran the bolt through it.
Then to keep it from rotating to far forward or rearward I used a couple of torsion(?) springs.
It worked great but didn't stop as well as I would have liked it to.

Ahhhh, for a lathe. Wish I could have bought a nice little South Bend with a 3-jaw chuck back when all the high school metal shops were disappearing

I don't personaly have one but know people that do.
You can find some good deals on lathe over the internet but you have to be willing to drive to get it.

Yeah, they aren't something you can just throw in a box with some styrofoam peanuts and take to your Fed-ex/Kinkos

...with my luck, I'd find that great buy in Florida.

I like how the guy suggests buying a $100 Target full-suspension to put on the skis.

Well, I'm just do hardcore that I had to try it.

This is what happened.

The snow is supporting the bike in the upright position. That's the part of the hill where you start to really pick up momentum.. I went at it and just kinda stopped
