Found 1st major downfall of Avid Jucy 7's.

The brake levers crack easy over the last 3 weeks I've gone through 2 sets of them, didn't even crash in that timespan. Will post pics if I can remember to.

mightypudge 09-08-03 12:40 PM

How did they crack???

Dannihilator 09-08-03 01:17 PM

Hard braking.

Maelstrom 09-08-03 01:30 PM

Damn...that sucks....material crack or in the adjusment (at any joints etc...).

Buzzbomb 09-08-03 01:37 PM

I'm sure they will make it good, they have great customer service.

Dannihilator 09-08-03 02:40 PM

Both.

Maelstrom 09-08-03 02:51 PM

Serious...they have some serious work to do on that lever then...bummer man, it looked so promising.

khuon 09-08-03 03:10 PM

Yeah. I'm bummed too. I hope they fix this problem.

jucy 7s? do u mean speed dial 7s?

Raiyn 09-08-03 04:45 PM

No he means the new Juicy 7 HYDRAULIC levers. Believe it or not Danka knows what he's talking about.

Have you ever set a bike up yourself from scratch; didn't think so.

Please don't assume that the person who put they're own bike together doesn't know what they're talking about parts wise, that is usually false.

khuon 09-08-03 05:28 PM

Is Avid acknowledging this as a strength issue or are they just sending you replacement levers? Actually... I'm assuming that they're sending you replacements under warranty.

math2p14 09-08-03 05:51 PM

hmmmm 3yrs in R&D and they come out with selfdestructing levers? Cmon.... avid has a good rep. i really hope that this is only an one off bad sample. or batch.

TimB 09-08-03 06:05 PM

could just be a bad batch or early production problems. These thingshappen does'n t mean it'sa bad design or bun product.

Actually, I repaired the 1 one, the other is managable yet. Plus I hope it is a bad batch, if not it will be a looong 2004 season.

The one for the rear is part Avid, part Hope.
