I didn't say anything about free...I said cheap. Go ask them if they have any spare 50mm-ish stems. I can usually get leftovers from my LBS for around $10. Sometimes I'll get a few different sizes initially to figure out what works best on the bike...my LBS is great, they'll give me all the sizes I want to try then I give back the ones I don't want and pay for the one I want to keep.

But... I thought he said he was comfortable with the way he rides the bike? Why should he change it if he likes it? Not everyone is the same - people have different preferences.

It does appear however that the geometry was designed for this fork . I'd be concerned that the slackness of that head tube (combined with rear wheel compression) has dire implications for the super dirt jumping that I suspect you bought that fork for. That slackness is fine for a downhill bike where the fork is well aligned to soak up punishment coming at you. But coming down off a jump ... I think your head tube is in real jeopardy of snapping.

im pretty sure the frame isnt annodized or powder coat as if you take a dull knife to it, it will scratch the paint of very easily. thats the only problem ive had with the frame, is that if i rub up against a sharp rock, it scratches some of the paint off. doesnt bother me that much though

Yeah... you laugh at me. How do you base what you call the bike if you're changing frames? I thought, generally, you call the bike a "Trek" 'cause it has a "Trek" frame. Maybe that is ridiculous.

so you kept one of those really uncomfortable bontranger seats??? and you put a used chain on it
If you put enough bontranger junk on any bike it becomes a Trek.

Why does a Trek say Jamis on i?
This hatchet is the most durable tool I've ever owned. I must have had it for 30 years! Of course, I've replaced the head twice and the handle three times, but what a long-lasting hatchet!
Actually, I think the bike is cool-looking. I wouldn't want mine to look like that, but you obviously do, and I say more power to you.
That head tube breaking thing sounds scary though.
Enjoy it, but be safe.

The color scheme is great! Of course I have a green bike, red grips, redwall tire on the front normal on the back, and a white fork... a pretty bike would be fun, but I don't usually pay attention to the colors of my bike as I'm riding.
