Garden hose.

Marrock 01-05-08 04:27 PM

Hose it down with seawater and then dust it thoroughly with salt.

MuddyMo 01-05-08 04:33 PM

LOL... I figured this would tender some funny responses

My hose is put away for the winter, so basically my hands get very dirty when I have to work on something.

cryptid01 01-05-08 05:14 PM

I simply hose it off, then store it in a vacuum chamber, submerged in a tankful of warm WD40.

junkyard 01-05-08 05:17 PM

I keep my bike in a van.

Down by the river?

Cheeto 01-05-08 06:35 PM

Id imagine you'd need to wipe everything down, clean the mud and grit off the rims, hubs, chain, and Derial's. Then go through and re-lube everything, then wipe of excess lube on chain.

Well just do what I said, since no one else wants to help, atleast its a start lol

Zan 01-05-08 07:24 PM

mud makes a bike look great in my opinion.

Cheeto 01-05-08 07:29 PM

LOL mud on the frame, not the chain, cogs and pivot points and bearings lol.

Zan 01-05-08 08:05 PM

well, that's what I meant. Mud that doesn't affect function.

fork
levers
frame
wheels
seat
etc

DirtPedalerB 01-05-08 09:01 PM

I just hose mine off... If I get real anal about cleaning it, it seems I always end up with dirt somewhere it shouldn't be... then have to teardown the headset or hub or something... only thing i really clean is I degrease the chain and relube.

mx_599 01-05-08 09:34 PM

buy a new bike, it's easier than cleaning the stupid things.

Cheeto 01-05-08 09:38 PM

^^ Lol!

It was clean when it was new, wasn't that enough?

Cheeto 01-05-08 11:16 PM

yea thats what my LBS said, he said, It'll never look this good again, so dont expect it to.

BearSquirrel 01-06-08 01:26 AM

Clean the chain well. Don't just wipe it down. Either put it through a chain cleaner or take it off and clean it in a bottle. The sand particles in the mud is what will wear your chain out.
