Finaly took the plunge

and bought some clipless pedals. I picked up a pair of Crank Brothers Mallets at Performance earlier today. I liked the full platform design in case I wanted to ride in regular shoes. I don't know why I did not buy these things sooner or why I was so hesitant to try them. The feeling of being connected to the bike; plus not having to deal with my foot slipping off the pedal and having it come around and bash my shins is great . I have only fallen once so far due to not clipping out in time, but expect many more to come. I haven't used the new pedals out on the trails yet, so I hope my love for them won't diminish after the first trail ride.

Do any of you have any tips or suggestions for learning to ride clipless on trails such as attempting technical obstacles?

Embrace the 0 mph falls, each one brings you closer to clipless perfection (whatever that may mean). I've gotten to the point on my SPDs now that when I'm about to go down I automatically clip out without even thinking about it.

Just keep riding. It gets easier.

Commit to the obstacle and stay clipped in.
