I run typically 26, but I'm tubeless. I weight about 184 not counting the hydration pack. I run into a lot of folks who run lower than me with tubes. That's especially the case in the mountains.

Folks are learning that on anything but smooth trails, low is faster and always better for traction.

How would running your tire at 60psi keep it from getting out of true? If you hit something hard it'll move the rim instead of the tire.
Depends on riding style. I run around 85psi in my street rig, so I don't bend wheels dropping to flat concrete.

For me it's somewhere around 30. A little more or a little less depending on trail conditions and what I feel like and if I actually remembered to check. Usually never more than 40 though.

oh me oh my there is a lot of misinformation in this thread, purposeful and just plain ignorant alike.

For the record, I run my silks at 190psi.
My mountain tires, around 30.

Yes I did greenmount on a KMart dually, once. Surprisingly it didnt extract its revenge on me on the way back down and I was able to offload it as an almost functioning bike. What sort of dually do the squirrels whisper of? and where's this reserve your talking about?

The dually will not be revealed til purchase!

The wee wippety fun 90 degree corener right after Guildford Cycles on James St? Directly across from that is what i pitch to be about 120 acres of XC/AM fun. My back fence is also part of the boundary line ^__^

I thought all that land was privately owned, if it is council land then yeah! top spot for a track.

I have two questions though. So i just got some IRC Mud Mad tires. I have been riding some steel bead WTB and curious about PSI in these kevlar beaded tires. Do I need to run at a higher pressure? Also, I have a small pump from Target (works great) that doesn't have a pressure gauge...any quick way to test the pressure? I usually just pump till the tire is really hard....

cheers!

Don't they? Not readily available, but I thought they did have them.... (And no, I'm not mixing it up with tubular)

They're certainly not popular on road bikes, but are starting to make an inroads. One item for road is Vittoria Pit stop which includes a sealant and pressurizes the tire. I hear people use this mostly with tubulars instead of carrying an extra tubular.
