Actually, Matt, I was going to quiz you on this. Do you think it's a necessity? I never had any undue chatter with the GM and I can't see where the design is that radically different. But maybe I just didn't know what I was missing. I'll look forward to a report when you get yours (Hope you actuallyget it; they're on backorder now).

There's really no good reason to cheap out but, hey, I'm cheap

I don't. I've been curious myself. I get the impression the may use more than on depending on the product.

Oops! Went back and read the fine print - - weight without spring. Anybody know the weight of the 8.75's steel spring?

I did a similar thing with my new bike, using manufacturers provided weights and what I deemed generous estimations. Final build came in around 10% over. I am curious to see your results.
