WooHoo! Blindsided (in a good way)!

I just got the e-mail before lunchtime today and it is official: I got accepted for sponsorship with Transition for the coming season (!) I am sooooo stoked! Looks like, if all goes well, I will be rockin' a Blindside this year.

Now I have to move a used-one-season Gran Mal, size long, either as a whole bike or a frame/fork +odds-n-ends combo [/shameless spam plug].

Woohoo!

Congrats!

Just out of curiosity. When you get "sponsored", does that mean that you get stuff from them for free? or just discounted?

hee hee.

Sponsorship levels are variable and the terms are eyes only top secret.

Congrats dminor, it seems your hard work has paid off once again.

That's awesome...can't wait to see the build on it. If you do sell the Gran Mal as a complete you got any ideas on what the build is gonna be?

I do, almost down to the chainring bolts. I'll try to post it up tonight. I crunched the grams and pounds in my spreadsheet and, sans the pesky details like cables and assorted small stuff I have no idea about (and using a lot of claimed-weight figures), it should come in just under 40 lbs.

SickLines just did a Blindside build that got it to 37.5 and they said they could go farther down.

Never seen these before, I'm guessing they clip on to the dual crown fork legs?

Thanks!

That looks like it would have a very XC-ish positioning, though

Haha! If you look close you will see that it is a quick-'n-dirty Photoshop job with some real cafe clip-ons. It spawned an ultimate 'joke gone wackadoodle' incident. Ahhh, but I'd be the Kenny Roberts of the DH course

Thank you all. Yes, it will have a new RST R1. It will be bristling with Syncros stuff and I'm going to try the Maxxis Ardent tires in the 3C compound (with a set of High Rollers as fast-rolling backup, of course).

OK - - as promised, here is a preliminary peek at how I'm (so far) planning to build this up. I feel like a roadie geek with all of these gram figures and stuff - - sheesh. I used to just put things together and ride them. [Blame it on LowCel ] And I used a very rounded .454 conversion of the kg to lbs and a lot of claimed weights:
