how do you get rid of pre-race jitters?
i have a race coming up in three weeks and i am nervous/excited/anxious...i have never raced before and its a far one. i was thinking about doing a race in temecula so that i dont get to nervous for the long one...what do you think i should do?

eat a bunch of cliff bars and fill your camelback with milk.

Smoke weed everyday.

Just focus on what you need to do and do not worry about positioning, at your stage, you are only in it for fun, 1st timers usually don't do very well at the first race. The best thing to do with that first race is to learn from your mistakes. Don't go into it thinking you have to do good, approach it like a big old group ride and have fun.

No sir, I have not. I actually have never even went past 30 mph on my bike. But when I was a toddler I raced the plastic 3 wheelers with my friends outside the house. First one to the next mailbox got a juice box and an eggo.

You never get rid of pre-race jitters. Even when you've raced a bunch and are cating up to expert or P/S/E. They might actually even get worse. On the start instead of worrying about position so much, talk with your competition, make jokes. Then, when they start the final countdown, put your game face on.

He asked a question, I gave an honest answer. BTW: I never had a plastic 3 wheeler, so there goes your theory. Whats your obession with the juice boxes anyway? Eggo's aren't all that great either. Your about my age, how are you going to dog my about "when I was a toddler" crap? Your also right. When I raced BMX I believe the fastest I was clocked at going was about 27 mph on a flat surface. Not to bad for a SS heavy BMX bike with a.. 11 year old on it at the time. |

When ever I am in some sort of race, before hand I have to **** like there is no tomorrow. The adrenaline kicks some sort of bowel thing in me every time its annoying. Then afterwards I dry heave. Its a fun cycle.
