This could very well be the end of me!

I'm debating buying a new fork! I just found a Marzocchi Z-1 Freeride with a QR-20 in RED for $300.00.

If I buy it, I think my wife is gonna kill me!

Ooooooohhhhhhhh what to do? Do I buy it and risk termination? Or do I pass?

BTW, it's a 2002 model, but still an incredible fork!

Oh yeah, figure I'll need X-tra heavy springs for it as well!

So, that means it's go up another $30.00.

The temptation is getting to be more than I can handle!

a2psyklnut,

Just do what I did, ask her if you can buy it... if she says no then keep on saving and buy something better later. You might be surprised though; she could say "ok."

Does your wife ride bikes too? Maybe she wants to upgrade her shock to whatever you're currently using on your bike. If so, tell her she can have it when you get the Z-1, if not you could always sell your current fork and at least make some money back on the deal... (just be sure you have hubs that support the QR-20; but I'm sure you already knew that).

If your wife does not know much about bikes, you could always buy it, and put it on your bike when your wife isnt looking, and when/if she notices the new fork, just say somthing like, "yea I know its not a great fork, but It was on clearance at the LBS for $50"

Congrats, great fork and withstanding a lot of abuse

...the price we pay to play the game

BUy it..300$ is a steal...

BTW, it's a 2002 model, but still an incredible fork!
Yep I own one and I am an unsmooth 250pnd freeride hack. Still works

Oh yeah, figure I'll need X-tra heavy springs for it as well!
Hell ya. This fork is very plush. You will want it a little stiff

So, that means it's go up another $30.00.
Arg...

Go ride your bike, come home in a fit of rage, ranting, crying, carrying on about how your bikes trashed, you won't be able to ride, life's not worth living without your bike, etc. Then when she ask why, or she tries to console you tell her you will have to have a new fork and its almost $300.

If you pitch enough of a fit she tell you to go get your bike "fixed".

Hey, It works for me at least once a year.

Pay half of the $300 in cash and not let your wife know about it. Put the other half on the credit card and tell her you got the whole thing $150. She will see what a great deal it was and not be too mad. This only works at the LBS, as you can't pay on-line guys cash

I guess the Z-1 would replace your Psylo? Do you dislike the the Psylo?

My girlfriend found out every detail of our secret trip to Atlanta within 2 hours of me wrapping up the details the day before we left. I COVERED MY TRACKS PEOPLE still she knew. <mutters> I must talk in my sleep or someting

H.Star, the Psylo is solid, still a good fork, I just like the feel of Zokes better! I'll probably keep the Psylo and put it on my SS bike, then sell (sell, yeah right, more like give) the fork off of the SS to a buddy.

Not to sound like a sissy boy, but the color will match better too!

Oh, what to do, I'm about to order it, and already have buyer's remorse. I mean, fear of my significant other.

Well, I haven't actually ordered it yet, I want to make sure I can get the X-Tra heavy springs for it, and the store isn't open yet!

I'm secretly hoping they're all sold out!

Stop lying to yourself. you know you want it, just admit it. Everyone is doing it, why not you? Who wears the pants in this relationship, it doesnt look like you! Just buy it, think of it as a LONG TERM purchase. Its gonna last you a couple of years so why not just get it. It will work out in the long run. When are you going to see an opportunity like this ever again, its a once in a life time chance. ARe you going to sit there and wondering, "what if, what if i do buy it, what if i dont buy it". Instead of thinking about it, you could have bought it by now.

JUST BUY IT!!!

Who cares if you do or don't "wear the pants in your relationship." If this worries you so much then you probably shouldn't order it. Guilt is not a good thing...

Damn, they have them in stock!

Just ordered a set, plus a set of springs!

And, like a crazy fool that I am, I also ordered a set of wheels. Came with a QR20 Marz front hub and an XT rear, laced to a set of Rhino Lites!

Just spent almost $600! I hope she doesn't find out!

Question... is your current fork broke? Are you wheels taco'd? umm is this going to make you a faster rider/racer and make you famous? ummm I'd say wait, oh to late! No need to get the wife pissed and then make you're riding a living nightmare everytime you want to go out. Just a thought, but if your wife is cool (which she has to be to have married aa crazy fool like you) then I'm sure it's all good

So tell us how it rides and how much you love it and all that shiet when you get it!
