The bottom line is that it's not about what someone rides, but how they can ride. To get back to the Pinto/Yugo analogy, you could be a sh|tty driver in either car, or you could be Jackie Stewart and be able to out drive 99% of the rest of the folks out there...

Now it's time to unbunch those panties!
That's not good picking on peoples bikes. What's wrong with you. It's not about "how they can ride" either. It's all about if they ride & enjoy it,that's all that matters."Enjoy what thy do" is what it is all about.
With your analogy on that , there is alot of people around that will make thou look like crap on the bike.

Yes, I wasn't clear enough. It's about the ride, not the ride. Despite the fact that so many people (especially on this forum) seem to be so wrapped up in the equipment, rather than the ride.

If someone is having fun, more power to them. There is always someone who is a better rider...

p.s. Why is stating a fact about a bike "picking on peoples(sic) bikes"?

LETS JUST SAY I LOVE YOU ALL. I LOVE ALL YOUR MT BIKES. I LOVE ALL OF OUR SILLY GRAMMAR AND NIT PICKING. IM SORRY FOR THE FECE STORM. MY BIKE SUCKS BUT I HAVE FUN RIDING IT. IF I HAD MONEY I WOULD BUY A NEW ONE. COMPARING MY BIKE TO AN XMART BIKE IS STUPID BECAUSE YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT COMPONENTS I RUN(NOT REALLY TO GREAT THOUGH) SO YOU DON'T KNOW WHOSE BIKE RUNS BETTER.

So guys I'm thinking about test riding a rockhopper pro disc from the mikes bikes in sf any comments on the bikes quality?

https://mikesbikes.com/itemdetails.cf...ogId=39&ID=918

good price? and no I dont have all the money for it yet, but I will.

Those brakes have the potential to work very well. Lose the link wires and go with traditional straddle hangers and crossover cables. Get some Kool-Stop pads too, and clean the rims! Some soapy water and a green scotch-brite pad will work wonders. Just looking at the photos, I'm amazed they even slow you a little! It'd be worth the money to have someone in the know about canti setup to do the work.

Your fork could benefit from some Mag 21 dust wipers, and the quadra 5 was only spec'd for 46mm of travel, and by looking at the clean areas on the upper tubes, it's only getting 25-30mm. That's about normal for those forks.

Your computer wire should be routed along the front brake housing, and down the fork brace to the leg.

Oh, and I almost forgot -- that frame was made in the good 'ol Waterloo factory with more care and precision than 99% of the junk coming out of China these days -- wear it well.

That may be the case. I have to lay claim to the other end of the spectrum. I absolutely suck at mountain biking. Of course I've only been out twice so far this year trying it out, but I suck. I ride slow and scared.

Nice ride. I have a '92 Raleigh Crest that is laid out just about like that bike. It's not running anymore, just laying on the floor with no wheels. Not sure what I'm going to do with it.

lol, hint, never buy the "EAGLE FIBERGLASS" shovel from Wal-Mart. It will break as soon as the digging gets tough.

Nice looking bike Kris. Are those Hydrailic V's on the front? What are you doing with the old RM frame?

Thanks. Brakes are regular Avid SD7's tuned with ti mounting bolts. The frame is the same one I've been riding for the past 3 seasons. It's much lighter this year than last, I'm hoping that combined with a much more rigorous training scheduled, it can carry me to the top on the Senior Expert cat this year. A lofty goal considering how far back my 3rd place was last year compared to 1st.

my bad, on the first bit my eyes were deceiving me, it looked like the brakes were a lot chunkier so i thought they were hydraulic's, turns out i was just looking at the bit of tire between the brakes/fork

VERY nice 575, Deanaldo. The right color, too. Ah, I'm jealous . . . it would be the perfect complement to my ASX.

Thanks man, I had to do a lot of fast talking for the wife to let me pull the trigger on it.... I'd love to have an ASX too, but I just don't need that burly of a bike.

2000 Diamondback Response

After not for quite some time, I am looking to get back into riding as it warms up. Assuming I take to it, is this bike/frame worth upgrading, or would I be better off going with a new rig? I would be into trail riding and some road riding, not jumping/tricks.
