Alright, here goes another fork question! I am going to buy myself a fork for Christmas for my Trek 4300. I know it cant handle too much travel so I have been looking at these forks. Would you be so kind as to vote for one of them or give any other suggestions for me. I ride aggresive XC and some street.

1. MX Comp w/ free S-2 Headset
2. Black Comp
3. Duke XC w/ U-Turn

Thanks guys for the help and I am sorry that these threads keep popping up but again I am very thankful.

My bad, its a C-2 headset from Cane Creek. This headset would be an improvement over my current if this matters.

I would go with the MX-comp with ETA. The black series is soso and the duke is not as nice as the Mx comp. You may find in the end that one of the forks will end up costing more than your 4300 (sorry to be harsh), but consider whether you want to buy a 200-300 dollar for for a 300 dollar bike.

ALthough that might be true, it is worth the upgrade. I took off my judy tt and put on a sid 100. Best decision I've ever made. Improved my riding skill 150%. I am actually looking into buying a MXPro w/eta. You might be spending more then your bike is worth but it definetly gives your bike the custom feel in the end.

I never really liked Marzocchi SC forks for trail riding. I am a Manitou man (until it comes to BIG DC forks for hucking), so I would say go with the Black.

TPC+ is SO plush and nice feeling.

bac.....is the black really that plush? are we talking about the comp or elite?

The Black, IIRC, has TPC+. Manitou has the best damping control of any fork out there IMO. I've got a Slider (and will be on an 04 Slider shortly), and the TPC+ in my fork is outstanding. My buddy has a Black Elite 125, and it's almost as plush (obviously slightly stiffer due to it's intended use as a trail bike fork rather than a DH/FR fork).

Of those listed, you can't really go wrong! Honestly, they're all good choices. Get the one that matches you bike color!

I agree with a2psyklnut and BAC5.2. Pick the one that looks best to you out of the 3 they will all perform great.

I've had a Duke SL and I now have a MXC Air, they are very different feeling forks, i like them both for different reasons. If at all possible try one out on a bike at your LBS and see what you like.

I thought this over and each fork has it's own features that would steer you (pun intended) to their direction. For ME, being a big guy and agressive rider, I'd choose the Marz. or the Duke. The Marz. b/c of the firmness and stiffness of the fork, and the Duke b/c the U-Turn feature is great.

If I were a lightweight (I wish) and considering racing, I'd probably go for the Black due to it's lighter weight and small bump sensitivity.

Yea careful with the SIDs, if your a heavier person you will def feel the flex in the fork as their sub 3 lbs
