Unfortunately, such stereotypes are not always accurate. |
It also makes other peoples heads hurt.

People I've talked to have had problems with clogging on the frogs. I use spd's and not the frogs, so take it with a grain of salt.

No experience with Time, Frogs, eggbeaters et al but lots of riding on SPDs and I find I instinctually smash my cleat on my crank arm because a single grain of sand keep me from getting my cleat in.
|
Oh I changed my mind. Get Track pedals with straps and cleated shoes, since it seems to have turned into one of "those" threads ;).
|
I'd just do a set of spd's, they are adjustable, and fairly easy to get used to.
|
My first clipless was PD-M545's. I never fell once due to not clipping out. In fact the whole time i had clipless the only time i had a "Whoopsee I'm still clipped in" moment was when i hit a parked car flat out :|
I had great success in bad weather with my Shimano's. |

I didn't know you could get bikes with training wheels and clipless pedals.

I like my eggbeater C's. I've had direct hits with it on rocks, logs, dropped my bike etc. No problems yet. I started on them and i've fallen quite a few times... but that's the only way to learn =P
|
I'm in the same boat. Going to go with the 540s. They go for ~50 on ebay.
|
Where I ride is only a mud fest after rain.. love that GA soil. if they get cloged I'll ride through the creek (thats fun!)
Thinking of the 520's or 540's Now.... about shoes... |

Hey, It's still fun. My friend was to wuss to ride through the creek (or to smart... I havn't figured it out yet, lol)
I yelled back "you want to get wet?" hes like "uh... NO!"..... I said "to bad" as I passed the sign that says "creek bypass" |
you have 2 choices;
1. time atacs 2. eggbeaters that is all |
You can usually find 520s on eBay for $10-20. Fantastic deal.
Just buy a decent pair of mountain shoes for $40-60 from Performance or Nashbar. By the time you are better than the shoes, they will have worn out. I suggest getting some with an aggressive tread. |
Anything will be better then my Nike Shox.
eh, for some odd reason I'm not allowed to buy off ebay. And for the people who take paypal, I dont have paypal. |
