Is the Reba as strong as any?

Hello, I'm just wondering if the reba is in any way weaker than say a Revolution or a Recon?

Is it's only difference the amount of travel and weight?

I'm not intending on doing any DH on a reba or anything... I just want to know.

Thank you.

I don't know the answer to your question, but it will help if you define "weaker". As in, from the sudden increase of pressure from big hits (blows seals), lateral rigidity (snapping, if it gets really noodly), et cetera?

I'm mostly talking about the stress that a fork would undergo from small drops (<2ft), lifespan etc... basically i'm asking if i'm getting a revelation-like fork but less travel?

thanks

In that case, I know the answer
The Reba is fine for 2ft drops, but don't trust it after that.

maybe you should just get a revelation and crank down the travel via U-turn. Then you would definitly get a fork that was revelation like.

I went off a dirt jump today faster than I wanted, ended up about 6 feet drop with a S&^**y SR Suntour fork... I didn't die, just bottomed out like mad.
I bet the reba will take a little more than a 2 foot drop.

When my camera is back from the repair shop I'll get a film of the area I did it, just for some proof.

A) You're lucky your seals didn't blow out, or that your fork didn't crack. Or frame, if it was 6 feet... I wouldn't take MY bike off of a 6 feet drop....

B) Taking a picture of what you may or may not have done without you doing it, doesn't prove anything.

It was more than I wanted, I'll try for a vid.
It probabley was more like 5 feet but Still a lot..
I blew my rear tire out though =)
I came down off the hill on my second and 8th ring, and hit the ramp and behind the ramp was all drop lol. I was up... then down, and then down more.

At that point I'm almost bottoming out, my neck is snapping no matter how hard I try to keep it up, I'm using all of my knee and elbow space to absorb the impact and still feel like my bike might just explode. Not to mention my seat is ramming up mah pooper.

Cheeto 03-16-08 07:10 PM

Thats you.
Have fun.
Want a cookie?

I know How to land.
I'm not landing on a flat surface either, I belive I hit the down still.
Next time I'm there I'll bring a Tape measure and get the numbers. It's hard to tell how High you are when one minute your on the dirt, and the next your flying. I was concentrating more on landing.

You seem to like to assume that evveryone around here attacks you and you like to argue and make threads umpleasnt and rude.
It's how you take it man.
But I don't want to be tied up in this foolish crap,
I'm out of this discussion.

Quips and inaccurate claims make for helpful posts.
