Are you sure it wasnt 60 inches ? Then it would be 5 feet wich me and most people on this forum can do.

60 ft to flat...HA...

I didn't belive the video when I first saw it, but trust me Im not making this up. He was at the hospital for a long time beofre he could even be released. Im not sure why it's not all over the net, 1st- I don't think they ever thought of posting it online, 2nd- my friend gave it to me to watch and I either lost it, it's lying in a bunch of unmarked tapes, or I recorded over it. (hopefully it's in a box of old videos in my basement)

Is there a link to Bender's attempts? I haven't heard of him and I want to see what happened when he tried make it.

Maelstrom 03-20-05 12:29 AM

You have seen your friends vid attempting a 60fter but havent seen the only documents 50+ ft drop? Go buy the NWD series and you will see it. It is easily the most talked about drop as it has been attempted and video taped.

60ft drop to flat and you might not have it. Thats why I find it hard to believe, that would be worth money. So many sports shows would grab that up just to show someone crashing.Benders has been on tv several times over the last few years

Maelstrom 03-20-05 12:29 AM

Oh thats MEASURED 54 ft to landing.

Holy crap that must take some serious balls. I haven't seen my friends drop for a long time and I can't belive that Bender actually had the cojonies to pull it off at the Jah drop.

P.S. My friend's cousin didn't do that drop, it was somewhere in Ontario and it was to a soft muddy surface.

Maelstrom 03-20-05 12:40 AM

He attempted it multiple times and even after the last attempt said he knew this was his limit, but if he could find a perfect tranny he would try that. He does believe that 100 ft is doable with a proper tranny

Dirtbike 03-20-05 12:43 AM

And that means hes going to get someone to build him one and he will try it.

Maelstrom 03-20-05 12:50 AM

I actually think he is mellowing out. He isnt going big like he used to (although he is one of 3 riders to nail the drop in Kelowna that is 45 ft). Been working on tricks and a lot more trails. Pretty skilled rider overall

Hmmmmmmmm  Yea sure, post pics. What will you be riding?

troie 03-20-05 09:45 AM

Ask yourself "Whats the worst that could happen?". If your answer is "Death." then dont do it. Dying is not worth the attention unless you had a lonely childhood, still a virgin and have nothing to lose.

Kris Flatlander 03-20-05 03:12 PM

The only way i would do it would be if I got my hands on a motocross bike, stripped out the motor, took it to the top of the hill and just let the brakes go, other than that I wouldn't even think of it. But if you want to do it, go for it!

Maelstrom 03-20-05 03:16 PM

Kris,

You just described the Karpeil. I think the Armageddon actually had MORE travel than a MX bike :) I think 22inches total.

Snuffleupagus 03-20-05 04:02 PM

I want the 60' video.

Kona: If you do it, just make sure you've got a good health/life insurance policy :p

madbiker555 03-20-05 04:17 PM

I would never do that drop, the most I'll ever do is 30ft on a hardtail (ouch). I was reading about Josh Bender and he never really cared what happened to him, If he did it, he did it. If he didn't then he would just keep going.

O ya, look at his new crazy bike:

Notice the padded handle bars?

12 inches of rear travel:

Every time I hear his name it reminds me of Futurama.

Dirtbike 03-20-05 09:54 PM

Prove it by writing Dirtbike on a piece of paper next to the bike and send us the picture.

^oZ 03-21-05 02:16 AM

Well, If you think you can do it, and your bike will make it then you definately should do it. But if you have any second toughts, then don't. It isn't worth it then.

Thats his old bike. He rides a Banshee Scream with Super Monster Ts now. (Or is it 888s?)

madbiker555 03-21-05 02:52 PM

Even if it is old I still like it, I wonder how much it cost.

Maelstrom 03-21-05 03:30 PM

About 10,000$ and it is no longer made or supported.

madbiker555 03-21-05 03:43 PM

 $10 000??!! That must be super strong.

-Stretch- 03-21-05 03:45 PM

imagine wat happens when you land and your springs coil all the way and the rebound, youll probably sail back up to the top if you angle it good...i think id die just watching someone try that jump...

I'm already figuring things out for it.;) BTW look at the date, I was a bit more reckless back then when I originally made this thread. I have a feeling there will be plenty of pics when and if it happens. It's not on my immediate go do list, but attempting it hasn't left my head yet.

Maelstrom 03-21-05 09:07 PM

If anybody has a host. I have 2 files. 20megs each. 1st is Bender doing the drop (and others) and the 2nd isbobby root doing a nost manual on a tandem (funniest thing ever)
