I took my Karpiel Apocalypse for an XC ride today, ended up with the dang top tube sheared right off, trying to jam up my butt! My Karpiel broke, Doritos Mexicana chips rock hard.

Wait, so the Fisher salesman told you that Specialized was no good? Consider your source.

I've had my oldest Specialized for 8 years now, and it's still going strong. Granted, I've replaced everything but the frame and seatpost, but the frame's still just fine and probably will be for the next 20 - 30 years. Cromoly Steel

Forget tubing - let's build bikes out of solid steel rods!!! Yay! Imagine the guads we'll grow! :D

A few years ago my friend bought a Roadmaster mountain bike. It was a high chainstay style with the BB hanging lower than the chain stays. Like a triangle below the stays.

I told him one day that the bike was so lousy that the frame could actually break. A month later the frame broke at the BB shell when he was on a fast downhill. It was a very long walk out of the woods.

He's OK, he did not crash, but now he always asks my opininon about bike stuff before buying something.
